To my dear client with the very important hair,

As many of you know, I took on further studies this year " Cert IV in Training and assessment" - hooley dooley! so I can finally step into lecturing and pass the baton of my skills, experience, and hairdressing wisdom to the next generation of wonderful hairdressers.

When I first enrolled, I imagined expanding, taking on staff, and building something bigger here in Torquay. But life, timing, and a few very well-placed forks in the road made it clear that this chapter isn’t about opening a bigger space, it’s about closing one with intention.

So, with a heavy heart, I want to share that Mohair Salon will close on wednesday the 17th February 2026.
That will be my final operating day in the little birdcage salon of Torquay.

After that, I’ll be hitting the road and heading North, and by North, I mean literally anything above the VIC border. The thought of enduring another Victorian winter fills me with rage and sad bones, so I’m throwing my career spaghetti north with a tail wind and wherever it sticks that's where I'll be... Cholos wishes have finally come true, we will be going on an adventure.

If you can’t find an appointment before I go, please reach out via text on my work phone 0493249270.
I’ll extend my hours by request so anyone wanting their final Mo-moment can absolutely have it.

Now for someone who has mastered the art of the Irish goodbye (despite not being Irish), writing this message has taken me 12 emotional laps around the block and it carries a lot of weight and wobble. Goodbyes are not my strong point. I genuinely feel like I’m breaking up with you under the “it’s not you, it’s me” cloud which is clearly a business style and not my personal choice.

This space has given me more joy, creativity, and meaning than I ever dreamt.
The conversations, the trust, the stories, the jokes, the deep dives, the absolute realness, you’ve all given me a dream job in the most beautiful, unexpected way. It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to be your hairdresser. I’ve loved my little life in the 3228, and will miss the speed humps and roundabouts dearly. Everytime i encounter one on my venture I will hear the whisper of the town's name in my ear.

I must express that you are the gift, so no parting gifts are necessary if you feel that way inclined to celebrate with a bon voyage, catchya later Coba. I’m downsizing, including my wardrobe, which the stress levels are equal to sending this email, i'm not a flower girl and I've quit chocolate. However if you do feel it’s a must a simple fuel gift card would be a simple nothing and an immense everything giftiest gift ever to celebrate this ending and beginning.

I will miss you all dearly and I’ll remember every single one of our conversations.
No joke, you know I catalogue everything like a human voice recorder. And when I eventually publish my book of “Conversations from the Chair,” I’ll absolutely send out personal release forms like a responsible adult.
Sike! I’ll be somewhere north, being a desert rat embracing my tank girl/ mad max-esque mullet, half-crispy from the sun, finally embracing cholos retirement destination.
With the heaviest of hearts I send you off with love and gratefulness and I hope that your time spent in the chair has been nothing but a great time.

Let there be rock.
Your Pal and Hairdresser
Mo :)
